Per molto tempo ho sentito il bisogno di esplorare il confine tra il corpo umano e il mondo animale.
Mi interessava immaginare un femminile che non fosse separato dalla natura, ma che ne facesse intimamente parte.
Così è nata Werewoman.
Una donna con sei seni, come una lupa.
Non una donna travestita da animale.
Non un animale che imita una donna.
Ma una creatura che appartiene contemporaneamente a entrambi i mondi.
Solo anni dopo aver realizzato quest’opera ho scoperto, attraverso il mio percorso nello sciamanesimo, quanto il lupo fosse una presenza importante nella mia vita.
Per questo oggi guardo Werewoman come un’intuizione arrivata prima della consapevolezza.
Per me rappresenta la parte di noi che non è mai stata addomesticata.
La nostra anima è selvaggia.
Ha bisogno di alberi, di erba, di pioggia sulla pelle.
Ha bisogno di ululare alla luna piena e di ridere con le proprie sorelle.
Ogni volta che qualcuno mi dice di sentirsi profondamente attratto da questa immagine, penso che riconosca proprio questo.
Non un lupo.
Ma una parte di sé.

For a long time I felt the need to explore the boundary between the human body and the animal world.
I wanted to imagine a feminine presence that was not separated from nature, but deeply intertwined with it.
This is how Werewoman came to life.
A woman with six breasts, like a she-wolf: a creature who belongs to both worlds at once.
Only years after creating this work, through my journey into shamanic practice, did I realise how important the wolf had become in my life.
Today I see Werewoman as an intuition that arrived before conscious understanding.
To me, she represents the part of ourselves that has never been domesticated.
Our soul is wild.
It longs for trees, for grass beneath our feet, for rain on our skin.
It longs to howl at the full moon and laugh with our sisters.
Whenever someone tells me they feel deeply drawn to this image, I believe they are recognising exactly that.
Not a wolf.
But a part of themselves.
